I am a psychotherapist and counsellor with a background of 25 years experience in nursing and midwifery. Several years ago whilst I was working as a nurse within a G.P. setting I decided to retrain as a counsellor and psychotherapist after becoming aware of the increase in the number of patients suffering from mental health issues and the direct link between our mental and physical health.
I trained at the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute in Nottingham, completing a degree in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. Whilst my work is based on Humanistic principles I also integrate theories from other approaches tailoring how I work with each client to suit them. I now work solely as a counsellor and psychotherapist and in addition to my work in private practice I have experience of working as a therapist within a G.P. setting, in a University counselling service and working in a service providing counselling to survivors of sexual violence.
I believe that therapy can aid healing by providing a therapeutic relationship which is non- judgemental, authentic and based on trust.
I am an accredited member of the BACP and abide by their ethical framework and that of The Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute. I have an enhanced DBS certificate and am in regular supervision to ensure the ethical standards of my practice.
I am currently based in the Broomhill area of Sheffield.
